Summary

Description: After your arrival at Baltra airport, we take you to your hotel in in Puerto Ayora on the main island Santa Cruz. Later you will get first contact with the unique wildlife of the Galapagos Islands during a visit to the research station of the Charles Darwin Foundation. The next morning (2) we will do a short hike to Tortuga Bay and see hundreds land and marine iguanas, crabs and - with some luck - sea lions. In the afternoon we will make a tour to the highlands of Santa Cruz and see Giant Tortoises in their natural habitat, additionally lava tunnels and a twin crater, that give evidence of the volcanic origins of Galapagos. The following day (3) we will visit the fish market of Puerto Ayora, and later take the speed boat to Isabela Island. There, we will have a little afternoon walk to the flamingo lagoon and the beach of Puerto Villamil to see a beautiful sunset over the Pacific. On the fourth day we will hike to one of the largest craters of the planet at Sierra Negra and see an active volcano at Cerro Chico. In the afternoon we will cool down swimming in Concha Perla, a lagoon with calm water perfect for snorkeling. The following day we will walk to the "wall of tears", witness of the island´s history as a prison colony. On the way back we will see several small beaches with hundreds of marine iguanas and water birds, and later visit a tortoise research and breeding station.  For the afternoon we take a trip to a place called Tintoreras to see its interesting lava formations and diverse wildlife. Early next morning (6) we will take the speedboat back to Santa Cruz and have a free day to choose from several optional activities (e.g. diving, snorkeling, day tours to other islands, beach, etc.). On the last day – depending on the time of your flight – there is time for a little morning activity, before going back to the airport to Baltra.
