Summary
Description: We travel early from Otavalo through the Intag Valley until we get to the village of Magdalena Alto where we start our hike (4 hours, partly on the back of mules) to the private reserve Los Cedros within the Chocó bioregion, known globally for its rich biodiversity. Our lodge is part of a scientific research station. In the afternoon we will learn more about the work of the onsite scientists. The second day is to explore the reserve and see its plethora of ecosystems, plants and animals. We will also have the chance to swim in rivers, waterfalls and to do a night walk through the forest. The following day at sunrise we check out the morning activity of various species of birds. After breakfast we head back to Magdalena Alto where our driver awaits us for the return trip.
Difficulty: moderate-difficult

Note: There is also a 4-day version of this tour (LIP-4a) with one extra full day to explore the Los Cedros Reserve
